Reflection
The rishi uses a lovely word here: sarvahuta. It means 'offered completely', with nothing held back. And from that total giving, good things begin to flow. First comes rich, creamy butter, the most precious food of the ritual. Then come living creatures. Birds that fly through the air. Wild animals that roam the forests. Tame animals that live in the village with people. Every creature you have ever seen, the rishi says, came out of that first gift. It's a beautiful way to look at the world: not as something that just happened, but as something that was given to us.
